The Lucknow Super Giants team (LSG) was launched in 2022 when RPSG Group bought it for a record Rs 7090 crore. In its first two seasons (2022 and 2023), the team reached the playoffs but was eliminated in the Eliminator both times. The team's batting has always been its strength, with big hitters like Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, and Marcus Stoinis. KL Rahul anchored the batting in the initial years, but the team's performance was a bit lacklustre in 2024 and 2025 due to a lack of experienced bowlers. Now with a new change, LSG has appointed Justin Langer as the head coach and handed over the command of the team to Rishabh Pant by buying him for a record INR 27 crore.
Lucknow Super Giants Team: Legacy & Achievements
The IPL Lucknow Super Giants team made a spectacular start in the IPL and proved their mettle by reaching the playoffs consecutively in their first two years, 2022 and 2023. In these initial seasons, the team maintained its place in the top four on the back of big players like KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran. Despite captain KL Rahul's injury in 2023, the team made it to the playoffs thanks to the excellent batting of Kyle Mayers and Marcus Stoinis.
